🇪🇺 Something new is brewing, and it’s made in Europe
For too long, ‘picking a data platform’ has really meant ‘picking between a handful of American hyperscalers’: Databricks, Snowflake, Azure.
But why is your critical data being sent across the Atlantic?
DataBaas is a data & AI platform that runs on European cloud infrastructure or even your own servers. You get the tools your team already knows and loves, without handing your data to US cloud providers.
We’re currently finishing up the demo environment, so you can try it yourself.
Want early access? Sign up at www.databaas.eu.
Building on European infrastructure sounds great in theory. In practice, the first question is always: what’s it going to cost?
But don’t worry, we did the homework. Jelle compared seven EU cloud providers to find out where its possible to get free credits, what the terms are, and how easy signup is.
The shortlist: OVHcloud, Scaleway, IONOS, UpCloud, Hetzner, Leafcloud, and STACKIT.
The results: OVHcloud has the most mature startup program with €10k in credits at seed stage. Scaleway goes up to €36k across three tiers. IONOS gives €5k with 24 months of support and an alumni discount afterwards. UpCloud offers €1–5k depending on your location.
This month’s team picks:
Databaas is listed on the European Tech Map as the only EU alternative to Databricks!
